CEMDOE promotes excellence in care with its 1st International Quality and Patient Safety Forum

Santo Domingo.- The Diabetes, Obesity, and Specialties Medical Center (CEMDOE) hosted the 1st International Quality and Patient Safety Forum, a pioneering event in the country aimed at enhancing patient safety throughout the entire care process. Organized by CEMDOE and INTEGRA, the forum gathered leaders, experts, and healthcare professionals from Latin America to discuss and share best practices, innovations, and knowledge in the continuous improvement of quality and safety in the healthcare sector.

Quality and safety in healthcare are fundamental pillars for ensuring patient well-being and the effectiveness of health systems. In an increasingly interconnected world, fostering international collaboration and the exchange of successful experiences is crucial to addressing global health challenges.

“Our International Quality and Patient Safety Forum, in its first edition, positions itself as a high-level platform to discuss, learn, and advance in these essential topics. Our commitment to excellence drives us to continuously improve and also to lead and promote significant changes in the healthcare system, so that all patients receive safe, high-quality care,” emphasized Dr. Gastón Gabín, CEO of CEMDOE and INTEGRA.

Among the key topics discussed at the forum were:

  • Benefits of Accreditations: Fact or Perception, presented by Dr. David Jaimovich, former Vice President of Joint Commission International.
  • Panel of Success Stories: Lessons Learned in Achieving Quality Accreditations in Latin America, moderated by Lic. Ariel Palacios, expert consultant on quality and patient safety in healthcare, with participation from Dr. Carlos Kerguelen, Deputy Director of Clinical Performance Metrics at the Santa Fe Foundation Hospital in Bogotá; Engineer Constanza Prieto, Director of Quality and Safety at the German Clinic in Chile; and Dr. Gastón Gabín, CEO of CEMDOE.

This forum marks a milestone in CEMDOE and INTEGRA’s commitment to advancing healthcare quality in the region and establishing excellence standards that inspire other institutions globally. CEMDOE, the first medical institution in the Dominican Republic to receive Joint Commission International accreditation, and INTEGRA, a firm specializing in healthcare asset management responsible for CEMDOE’s operations, reaffirm their commitment to medical excellence and patient safety, ensuring the implementation of international processes that guarantee high standards of quality and safety.
