Northern California fireworks shows canceled, impacted by warehouse explosion near Esparto

An explosion that burned a fireworks facility to the ground in the Esparto area on Tuesday is impacting Fourth of July events across the region. Cal Fire said Wednesday that seven people “remain unaccounted for” after the explosion and that first responders are working with the property owner to help find them.

Several cities and counties stored their fireworks at the burned warehouse, located near County Road 23 and County Road 86A.

In San Jose, organizers said they will carry on with their varying fireworks shows as planned, despite losing some of the fireworks planned for an event.

Rancho Cordova’s Fourth of July event was not impacted.
