TYPE OF POWER RESTORED. MEGAN MITCHELL WLWT NEWS FIVE. MEGAN, THANK YOU SO MUCH. WE DO APPRECIATE IT. THANK YOU TO PEOPLE DOWN THERE IN SOUTH CENTRAL KENTUCKY, TENNESSEE, THE CAROLINAS, A LOT OF PLACES HIT VERY HARD BY THE STORM. YEAH, IT HIT EVERYBODY IN A BIT OF A DIFFERENT WAY. AND I KNOW IT DOESN’T FEEL LIKE IT, BUT WE DID SORT OF LUCK OUT HERE WITH LARGELY SNOW. LET’S TALK WITH METEOROLOGIST ADAM BURNISTON THOUGH, BECAUSE NOW IT’S THE COLD THAT BECOMES A PROBLEM. AND FOR A VERY LONG PERIOD OF TIME. YES. AND THAT COLD ALSO GOING TO MAKE IT POTENTIALLY A LITTLE BIT SLOWER TO GET THE ROADS COMPLETELY CLEARED. I KNOW ROAD CREWS ARE LOOKING AT SOME TRAFFIC CAMERAS HAVE DONE A GREAT JOB HERE OVER TODAY IN THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON NOW. BUT THAT SALT OTHER METHODS THAT THEY USE JUST NOT AS EFFECTIVE WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE DOWN INTO THE TEENS EVEN BELOW ZERO LIKE WE’RE EXPECTING. SO THIS WEATHER ALERT. TIMELINE HERE, NOT ONLY DO WE STILL HAVE THE HAZARDOUS ROADS OUT THERE, BUT WE’RE IN THAT WEATHER ALERT DAY BECAUSE OF THESE DANGEROUS WIND CHILLS. WE’LL HAVE WIND CHILLS. MUCH OF THE AFTERNOON AROUND FIVE DEGREES BELOW ZERO THROUGH THE AFTERNOON INTO 15 DEGREES BELOW ZERO EVEN AT POINTS TODAY. BY TONIGHT, OVERNIGHT, WE COULD SEE THOSE WIND CHILLS GET DOWN EVEN TOWARDS 15, 20, 25 MILES AN HOUR, 25 RATHER BELOW ZERO AS WE GO THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT INTO TOMORROW MORNING WHERE WE ARE STAYING. COLD FEELS LIKE FIVE THROUGH MOST OF THE AFTERNOON ON TUESDAY. SO ANOTHER REASON WHY MANY SCHOOLS ARE LIKELY CLOSED, ALONG WITH MAYBE SOME BACK ROADS STILL NOT QUITE GETTING CLEAR. SO ACTUAL TEMPERATURES RIGHT NOW IN THE LOWER TEENS ACROSS MUCH OF GREATER CINCINNATI, THROUGH PARTS OF MAYSVILLE. SINGLE DIGITS OXFORD, CONNERSVILLE, BROOKVILLE DOWN TO BATESVILLE, OLDENBURG AREA. WE ADD IN THAT WIND CHILL FACTOR BECAUSE WINDS CURRENTLY SUSTAINED AROUND 15, EVEN 16 MILES AN HOUR. AND THAT MAKES THESE TEENS FEEL LIKE WE’RE WELL BELOW ZERO. SO FIVE DEGREES HERE IN CINCINNATI, EVEN A TEN UP THERE IN CONNERSVILLE, MANY AREAS IN THE SINGLE DIGITS THERE BELOW ZERO OUT THERE THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON. AND THAT CONTINUES THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON. EXTREME COLD WARNING GOING INTO EFFECT 6:00 TONIGHT LASTING THROUGH NOON ON TUESDAY. WILL LIKELY SEE THAT EXTENDED AS WE GET HERE THROUGH THE WEEK. BECAUSE AS YOU SEE HERE, WE GO THROUGH TONIGHT. WE GET THOSE WIND CHILLS ALREADY BY 11 P.M. DOWN 15, ALMOST 20 DEGREES BELOW ZERO. THAT CONTINUES INTO TOMORROW MORNING. TOMORROW AFTERNOON WE’LL BE BACK INTO THE SINGLE DIGIT WIND CHILLS, BUT BY THE NIGHTTIME AGAIN WILL FALL THROUGH THE SINGLE DIGITS AND YOU’LL SEE THOSE TEENS WIND CHILLS BELOW ZERO AS WE GO THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT AND AGAIN INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING. THAT’S WHERE YOU’RE SEEING EVEN SOME CLOSE TO 20 DEGREES BELOW ZERO WIND CHILLS COMING INTO PARTS OF OUR AREA BY WEDNESDAY MORNING. SO TODAY, BREAKING IT DOWN WHEN THOSE TEENS OUT THERE, AS I MENTIONED BELOW, ZERO WIND CHILLS GET DOWN INTO THE 1015 DEGREES BELOW ZERO RANGE AND ACTUAL TEMPERATURES ALSO GOING TO BE FALLING DOWN BELOW ZERO. AND WE COULD EVEN HAVE A GOOD STRETCH THIS WEEK. ONE, TWO THREE, ALMOST FIVE DAYS HERE. SIX DAYS OF BELOW ZERO TEMPERATURES GETS CLOSER TO ZERO BY THE END OF THE WEEK, BUT THIS COULD RIVAL SOME OF THE COLDEST STRETCHES WE’VE SEEN HERE IN CINCINNATI FOR QUITE A WHILE. SO THAT’S WHY WE DECIDED TO KEEP THAT ALERT DAY TODAY AND TOMORROW. WITH THOSE WIND CHILLS GETTING DOWN TO SUCH DANGEROUS LEVELS OUT THERE AND EVEN HIGHS THIS WEEK ONLY REALLY STAYING IN THE TEENS WITH ANOTHER CHANCE OF MAYBE SOME LIGHT SNOW COMING IN HERE BY THE END OF THE WEEK. SO IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE
